Common Questions

WHAT TIME CAN I BRING MY DOG INTO THE KENNELS OR PICK MY DOG UP FROM THE KENNELS.?

The kennel is open from 9am until 7pm so pick up or drop off can be anytime between these hours. However because l am out walking dogs on the trails during the day it is really helpful if owners can give me a rough idea of their arrival time.

This is usually done by contacting me a few days before arrival or by text with as much notice as possible, my cell number is 506 6639140

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING WITH ME TO THE KENNELS?

Some people like to bring their dogs own bed, but if not then l do have dog beds and blankets here for your dogs. If you have a blanket that your dog likes to lie on at home then bring that as it will have a familiar smell on it.

For food l do have the costco brand of kibble of chicken and rice for the kennel dogs. But it is highly recommended that if your dog has a sensitive tummy that you bring their usual brand of dog food. You can bring treats for your dogs, bones are allowed as they will have their own individual kennels.

You can bring toys , recommended are sturdy chew type toys and stuffies tend to get ripped apart easily.

If you have not completed the paperwork for your dog that is done on the first visit to the kennels then you will need to bring a copy of your dog’s up to date vaccinations. I have stainless steel dog bowls and leashes at the kennel that l supply for your dogs.

If your dog needs medication during their stay do bring it in with easy to read instructions

WILL MY DOG HAVE ANY TIME OUTSIDE OF HIS/HER KENNEL DURING THEIR STAY?

All the dogs are walked every day, usually on our own private trails. Or if the trails are too deep in snow we use the large fenced area that is on our property. The dogs are also rotated in the exercise yard that is attached to the kennels. The amount of time they are in this area will depend on weather conditions. The duration of your dog’s walk will be decided according to their ages, body condition etc. They can be walked in groups or individually according to owners recommendations.

ARE THE KENNELS HEATED DURING THE WINTER MONTHS?

We have an overhead heater that can be set to any temperature that allows the kennels to be kept warm during the winter months. The upstairs part of the kennel is kept at a higher temperature as this is where the smaller sized dogs are kept during their stay.

e-transfer to caroline_bird_@hotmail.com.

CANCELLATIONS OF BOOKINGS

To be able to fill a canceled kennel spot as much notice as possible is needed. New customers to the kennels are asked to pay a $50.00 non refundable fee for stays of a week or longer. If enough notice is given that enables me to fill their spot then the deposit will be returned. People who book or cancel with no notice will be black listed and will no longer be able to use my kennels in the future.

WHAT IS BOARD AND TRAIN?

This is an extra service for some dogs who come into the kennels . It must be booked in advance as l only train one dog at a time. The training is done for one hour per day with a dog and includes general obedience skills such as Focus, Polite walking skills, Sits, Down, Stay and Come. Everything is taught using only positive reward based techniques. Customers can choose the amount of time they want their dog to be at the kennels for training, the longer your dog is in training the better the end result would be.For this service do check out the pricing on this website. If anyone does want to see any videos of dogs that have been in for training with me then go to my you tube channel that goes under the name of caroline bird dog trainer and type in the words REAL TIME DOG TRAINING.

When people ask me questions about the kennels its sometimes hard to explain. So yesterday l came up with the idea of doing a tour of the kennels and outside grounds that should help people get a better idea.
